Years 3(4-5)

3 (3-4)100gm Main Colour

1x100gm 1st contrast colour

1x100gm 2nd contrast colour.

Size 4mm needles, plus 3.23mm.

A yarn needle, 2 stitch holders, crochet hook.

Abbreviations: Sts-stitch, K-knit, P-purl, RS-right side, WS-wrong side, Garter st- knit every row, beg-beginning, patt-pattern , rep-repeat, sl-slip, psso- pass slipped stitch over, k2tog-knit 2 stitches together, dec, decrease , cont- continue, rem-remaining, foll-following, alt- alternate, p2- purl 2 together, k3tog-knit 3 together, ch-chain, dc- double crochet, (us single crochet), sl st-slip stitch,

CREATE DRESS:

Using  3.25mm needles and C1 cast on 138 (148-148) sts.

Knit 9 rows garter stitch (1st row ws0. Break off C1

Change to 4mm needles and begin  pattern.

Using MC for rem, 1st row (rs)-Knit.

2nd row – p8, *k2,p8, repeat from * to end.

Repeat 1st and 2nd rows until work measures 14 (15-16)cms from beg, ending with a 2nd row.

Next row- (rs)-k2,sl 1, k1, psso, k2tog, k2 * k4, sl k1, psso k2tog, k2, repeat from * to end =110 (118-118) sts. Next row – p6, * k2, p6, repeat from * to end.

Next row – Knit.

Repeat last 2 rows until work measures 12 (12.5-13)cms from dec row, working last row on ws.

Next row – (rs) – k1, sl 1, k1, psso, k2tog, k1 * k3, sl 1 k1, psso, k2tog, k1, repeat from * to end = 82 (88-88) sts.

Next row – p4, * k2, p4, repeat from * to end.

Next row – Knit.

Repeat last 2 rows until work measures 12 ( 12.5-13) cms from dec row, working last row on WS.

Next row – k1, * k3, k2tog, k1, repeat from * to end

= 68 (71-71) sts.

Next row – p3, * k2, p3, repeat from * to end.

Next row – Knit.

Repeat last 2 rows until work measures 43 (46-49) cms from beg, working  last row on WS and dec,  3 (6-2) sts evenly across last row = 65 (67-71) sts.

Knit 2 rows garter st.

SHAPE ARMHOLE:

Ontinue in garter st for rem and cast/bind off 3 sts at the beg of next 2 rows =59 (61-65) sts.

Dec one st at each end of next row, then in every foll alt row until 53 (55-57) sts rem.ont without shaping until armhole measures 8 (8.5-9) cms, working last row on WS.

SHAPE  NECK:

Next row (RS) –K19 (20-21) turn,

**Continue these 19 (20-21) sts and dec one st at neck edge in every foll alt row until 13 sts rem.

Cont without shaping  until armhole measures 14 (15-16) cms.

SHAPE SHOULDER:

Cast/bind off 7 sts at befg of next row.

Work 1 row.

Cast/bind off rem 6 sts.**

Slip next 15 sts onto a stitch holder and leave.

With RS facing, join MC to rem sts and knit to end.

Rep from ** to **, working 1 row moe before should shaping.

NECKBAND:

Using yarn needle and mattress st seam, join right shoulder seam.

With RS facing, using 3.25mm needles and C1, knit up 12 (13-14) sts evenly along left side front neck, knit across sts from front  stitch holder, knit up 12 (13-14) sts  evenly from back neck, knit across sts from back stitch holder, then knit up 12 (13-14) sts evenly along left back neck = 78 (82-86 )sts.

Knit 9 rows garter st.

Cast /bind off loosely knitways.

Using yarn needle and mattress st seam, join left shoulder and neckband seam.

ARMHOLE BAND:

With RS facing, using 3.25 needles abd C1, knit up 62 (66-70) sts evenly along armhole edge.

Knit 9 rows garter st.

Cast/bind off loosely knitways.

Work  other armhole band in same manner.

FLOWERS: (MAKE 22)=6 flowers around armhole band evenly, each armhole. 10 flowers evenly around neckband evenly.

Make flower=Using 4mm crochet hook, with main colour, 4ch, join to form ring.

1st round = 1ch, 12 dc in ring, sl st to first dc.

Using  C2, 2nd round – 1 ch, 1dc in same place, *4ch, 1dc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 dc in each of next 2 ch, 1 dc in next st, repeat from * to end, omitting last dc, sl st to dc at beg of round.

UsingMC,3rd round – 1ch, 1dc around post of first dc of 2nd round,*6ch,1dc in 2nd ch from hook, 1dc in each of next 4 ch, 1dc around post of next st from 2nd round, rep from * to end, omitting last dc, sl st to dc at beg of round. FASTEN OFF.

FINISHING: DO NOT PRESS,

Using yarn needle, darn in ends.

DRESS:-Using yarn needle and mattress st seam, join side and armhole band seams. Sew flower to C1 armhole bands and neckband, evenly spacing flowers.
